Well looked after to the residence card for you and your family

If you are an EU citizen planning to move to Germany, we have good news. The process is straightforward. You can take up gainful employment without special permission. However, it is advisable to obtain a certificate confirming this right to freedom of movement.

Your family members enjoy the same right to freedom of movement as you, even if they are not EU nationals themselves. This includes spouses, life partners and children under the age of 21 as well as other dependents to whom they provide support. If you have already been here for five years, you even enjoy the right of permanent residence.
